What: Bicycle Conference of the North (aka BiCoNor) is a collaborative event that inspires and supports community-focused bicycle projects in the arctic and subarctic regions, with a focus on promoting equitable access to cycling. The conference will include workshops and presentations from attendees, group rides, shared meals, and various bike skill building opportunities. You are invited to this event to further our shared goals of access to affordable and equitable cycling!
Where: Dena'ina lands, also known as Anchorage, AK, USA
When: October 2nd-4th, 2026.
You can read about the schedule here.
Who: Hopefully you! Currently our organizing team is made up of members from Off The Chain Bicycle Collective, Anchorage GRIT, and other community members. We are trying to create a space for participants to teach and learn from each other, so we are looking for folks to lead workshops! If you have an idea for a workshop you’d like to facilitate, a workshop submission box is included in the registration form, found here.
Further details about the conference:
- We really want to emphasize the participant-driven nature of this conference. We don’t want to lay claim to what people need to know or don’t need to know, and would rather let the collective group of attendees figure that out for themselves! That being said, don't feel like you need to have something to teach in order to come and participate. In order to have teachers we must also have learners!
- This is as much a social event as it is a conference! Group rides and other social events will be built into the schedule.
- Loaner bikes will be available for those who don't want to bring their own bikes.
- Housing will be available for those that want or need it - we will have various community members hosting attendees in their homes. When you register you can specify if you need housing and if you have any specific needs. Hotels and Airbnbs are also a great option!
- Group meals will be available throughout the weekend! We are planning on providing dinner on Friday night, all meals on Saturday, and Sunday breakfast. Food is really the only cost for this event, so we are kindly suggesting a $40 donation to cover those costs for the weekend. Thanks!
